Dear Prospective PASO Member

Technology advances and mergers are redefining the landscape of the oil and gas industry.  How do you plan to stay abreast of how these changes will affect the accounting policies and procedures within the industry?  Membership in the Petroleum Accountants Society of Oklahoma (PASO) is the answer.

PASO is a charter member of the Council of Petroleum Accountants Societies (COPAS), which has 23 local societies and over 3,000 members throughout the United States and Canada.  PASO provides a forum for discussing and resolving difficult industry related accounting problems.  Working in conjunction with other societies, PASO members participate in the creation of guideline documents, model form accounting procedures, and educational materials.

Your PASO membership provides an opportunity for input in the development of new COPAS accounting guidelines and other documents used throughout the industry.  Your participation will also allow you to increase your knowledge of industry policies and procedures, develop leadership skills, and network with other industry professionals.  Through your participation on various committees, your company will have a voice in projects relating to industry guidelines.  As a member, you will have access to the national member directory that will enhance your ability to contact the appropriate people and resolve issues more efficiently.  PASO also provides an opportunity to participate in the Accredited Petroleum Accountant (APA) program, which is quickly becoming a standard measure of petroleum accounting expertise.  Accounts magazine, which is published quarterly, will keep you apprised of the most recent developments in the industry.

Our $200 annual membership fee includes membership in PASO and COPAS, as well as the cost of the meals at our eight annual meetings.  We hold our general membership meetings at the Petroleum Club in downtown Tulsa and the attire is business casual.  Seven of our eight meetings are lunch meetings and our April meeting is held in the evening.  General membership meeting times and committee meeting times will be included in our monthly newsletter.  More information about meetings and committees are included in the enclosed brochure.

Please return your completed application by August 31, 2007.  Your timely response is greatly appreciated as it will allow adequate time to prepare for the first meeting on September 18, 2007.  Should you have any questions regarding membership or other PASO related issues, feel free to contact me at (918) 295-1676, or gwright@cimarex.com.  Additional information is also available at www.paso-tulsa.org.
